JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
Blast Room Operators shall meet all qualification requirements for Class One and Class Two Machine Operators as it relates to blast room operation and meet the below listed MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES for Blast Room Operator.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (MR’S) and PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (PS’s) include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety
Special protective clothing including fresh air supplied enclosed helmet and cape, full cover alls, heavy leather long cuff welding gloves shall be worn in the blast room. Protective clothing will be worn in addition to steel toed leather work shoes, long pants and work shirt.
Learn and practice safety concerns relative to the blast room.
Perform operation and maintenance of breathing air filter system.
Blast Room Operation
Perform operation of blast room elements including pressure pot, elevator screw auger assembly and controls for same.
Trouble shoot operation problems with blast room.
Perform all duties relative to blast room operation.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of High School diploma and/or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write proficiently.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to analyze and resolve basic problems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
