Bank of Botetourt is offering its seventh annual Taking Care of You Community Scholarship totaling $2,000. Three total scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $500 and two at $250. These scholarships are available to high school seniors and existing college students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and who currently utilize Bank of Botetourt for their banking services.

To apply, applicants will need to write a two-page essay on the topic of “How has Bank of Botetourt been able to take care of your banking and financial needs?” The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 31.

For additional information contact the Bank Education Team Representative Jon Foreman at Scholarship@BankofBotetourt.com or 540-591-5053.

Bank of Botetourt to host high school seniors virtually for VBA Bank Day Scholarship Program

Beginning Wednesday, March 15, Bank of Botetourt will virtually host seniors from high schools throughout its bank footprint to participate in Bank Day, a statewide effort sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) Education Foundation and the VBA Emerging Bank Leaders. The purpose of the program is to expose students to the banking industry and provide an opportunity for the students to learn about banking, careers in banking, financial services and the vital role Bank of Botetourt and banks across Virginia play in their communities.

Last year, the bank, in conjunction with the VBA, worked with 30 seniors from seven local high schools. From their experience, the students are required to write an essay, and 12 scholarships (six honorable mention, six regional, and one statewide) will be awarded based on the essays totaling $26,000.

“We are pleased to partner with the VBA to offer this scholarship opportunity. The financial education of our youth is one more way the bank serves its communities, and I am proud to share that Bank of Botetourt has hosted 10 recipients from this program to date,” said Bank of Botetourt President & CEO G. Lyn Hayth.

Throughout the virtual program, students will have access to a Virginia Banking industry resource website that houses videos, articles, and podcasts to explore and research. As a virtual host, Bank of Botetourt will also be providing supplemental materials and packets to the seniors as a thank you to each for participating.

To learn more, and to sign up to participate in the VBA Bank Day program with Bank of Botetourt, visit www.BankofBotetourt.com/VBA-Bank-Day or contact Jon Foreman at BankDay@BankofBotetourt.com. Student registration closes on Friday, March 3, 2023.
