HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted Gilmer County on Friday January 27th. The visiting Lady Titans held on late for the road win over Tucker County by the final score of 51-49.
The first quarter was back and forth as Tucker County held a slim 10-8 lead after one quarter of play. The Lady Titans started to hit their shots in the second as they outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 19-10 to give Gilmer County the 27-20 lead at halftime.
Tucker County fought back in the third quarter as the Lady Mt. Lions edged the Lady Titans 12-9 in the third quarter to make the score 36-32 Gilmer County. The fourth quarter was a back and forth battle as the Lady Mt. Lions cut the Gilmer County lead down to 50-49 after a Kadie Colebank 3 point basket with 3 seconds to play. The Lady Titans made 1 foul shot and Tucker County was unable to get a shot off as time ran out to give Gilmer County the win by the final score of 51-49.
The Lady Mt. Lions were led by Kadie Colebank with 21 points, 8 rebounds and Brylee Wetzel added 9 points for Tucker County in the loss. Macy Helmick dished out 6 assists and Ericka Zirk collected 8 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions. The Tucker County JV team got the win in the first game of the night 37-33.
Tucker County(11-2) will return to action on Thursday February 2nd at home against East Hardy. The Lady Mt. Lions will then travel to Union Friday February 3rd. Tucker County will then host Moorefield for Senior night on Tuesday February 7th. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
