Robinson was arrested for allegedly violating a protective order issued against him by his ex-wife.
In an email to the Mountain Messenger, sent the day he turned himself in, Robinson stated, “I was arrested Monday by WV State Police at the request of August County VA Sheriff’s Dept. My wife divorced me and left the state, making sure I didn’t know where they went. I thought they were in Charlottesville. Needle in a haystack kind of search. Found out they had a PO Box in Staunton, began to look there. 75K people in county. Finally met a girl at a Dairy Queen who thought she might know my son, at her school. I went to the school a few mornings later, my wife happened to drive up after I did. When I saw it was her I departed. But that is apparently enough to get classified as a menace, so I face arrest and trial. The same thing happened here in Greenbrier County a year ago.”
Robinson remains on the ballot as a Republican candidate for sheriff in Greenbrier County, running against Democratic incumbent Bruce Sloan. Robinson added, “Looks like I will be in jail on election day.”
