Salem native selected for renewable award

The University of Virginia Alumni Association announced the selection of its 2018 Legacy Scholars: Garrett Neil Hicks, from Salem, Virginia, Stephanie Morton, from Miami, Florida and Lindsey Caroline Reeves from Atlanta, Georgia. They were selected from a pool of 130 applicants.

The three scholars, all incoming first years, are each active members in their communities and classrooms:

Garrett Hicks will graduate from Salem High School in the top five percent of his class, and has established himself as a community leader through his involvement in National Honor Society, the United States Senate Youth Program and the Salem Marching Band, among other activities.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide support to UVA students through our Legacy Scholarships,” said Molly Bass, director of scholarships, endowments and awards at the UVA Alumni Association. “Garrett Hicks, Stephanie Morton and Lindsey Reeves have already made significant impacts in their communities and have excelled in the classroom. We cannot wait to see the impact they make on the University of Virginia.”
